Phil started in financial services as a clerk at what was then Abbey National. Having worked his way up to become a mortgage broker and subsequently qualified as a financial adviser, his fledgling advice career began at the zenith of the endowment advice debacle (he was offered compensation on the endowment he sold to himself), continued through the sub-prime mortgage collapse and on through the PPI mis-selling scandal. It was around this point that Phil was offered a BDM role at Direct Life and Pensions, managing the accounts of some of the UK’s top Protection brokers for the technology and service firm, and it was here the he developed his love for relationship building, public speaking and PR.
In the decade and half since, Phil has become one of the Protection industry’s most recognisable faces, representing innovative firms such as Vitality Life (PruProtect) and UnderwriteMe. This rounded experience made him the ideal choice to lead Corporate Strategy for the largest Life Insurance broker in the UK, Reassured, whom he joined in 2019, helping the team expand into different product lines and channels as part of their ongoing growth.
Away from work Phil is Vice President of his local football club, AFC Portchester, and has, despite his own tender years, two sons aged 16 and 18. All of which is often more stressful than his advice career.
