This award recognises the firm that has continually demonstrated that it has been at the forefront of the protection/health insurance markets over the past 12 months, leading the way for firms of any size.
Judges will choose a winner based on core competence, offering clients a well-round and service with clear objectives, and improving the reputation of the industry overall.

Outstanding Specialist Intermediary
Open to all intermediary firms writing individual, group protection and/or health insurance business.
This category recognises firms that may provide a bespoke service to customers or serve a niche client based, demonstrating why this service is so needed and what its impact is within either the health or protection markets.
The judges will reward firms that can not only discuss how their service differs to more mainstream adviser firms but how it has made a real difference to customers and third parties alike.

Outstanding Adviser Network
Open to all networks representing protection and health insurance advisers and intermediaries.
Networks play a pivotal role in helping protection and health intermediaries secure better outcomes for clients through services, education, training and the sharing of valuable resources and knowledge.
Judges will be looking for evidence of networks that have developed intermediary skills, championed positive change and raised the level of industry practices.

Protection Intermediary of the Year sponsored by HSBC Life
Open to all intermediary firms writing individual and/or group protection business.
This award recognises the firm that has continually demonstrated that it has been at the forefront of the protection market over the past 12 months, leading the way for other industry peers to follow through excellent customer service, exceptional outcomes and agility in the face of the cost of living crisis.
Judges will be looking for evidence of businesses that stand out in terms of implementation, scope or fresh approach.

Excellence in Customer Service Award
Open to all intermediary firms writing individual and/or group protection and/or health insurance business.
This award credits the intermediary organisation that has demonstrated excellent levels of customer service backed by clear standards and adequate monitoring performance.
The judging panel will look for evidence of clearly thought-out customer care strategies and proof of successful delivery, including client and customer satisfaction.

Employee Benefits Intermediary of the Year
Open to all intermediaries writing employee benefits business for group clients.
With the increasing pressures caused by the cost-of-living crisis, benefits provided through employers have become ever more important to staff to ease financial burdens and access support services. The entry can touch on success in terms of sales, training and customer service as long as it relates to employee benefit business.
Judges will look for evidence of excellent examples of developing new benefits platforms and services, and business that stands out in terms of implementation, scope or a fresh approach.

Rising Star - Intermediary
Open to all employees at a protection and/or health insurance intermediary that have no more than five years' cumulative experience in the protection and/or health industries as of 30 June 2024.
Who is the intermediary space’s most promising prospect? Who is already showing the potential for greatness in their field and is already on the road to becoming a future protection or healthcare leader? While there is no age limit for this award, this year’s winners will be able to evidence their impressive career progression and will be able to point to specific achievements over past 12 months (June 2023 - June 2024) while showing huge potential for the future.

Intermediary of the Year (Individual Achievement)
Open to all employees of financial advice firms writing individual and/or group protection and/or health insurance business.
This award to recognises an individual from an advice firm who has worked tirelessly within the protection or health insurance markets over the past 12 months. This person will provide an exceptional service to clients and a track record of securing the best possible customer outcomes but will also be known for and involved in driving industry behaviour and best practice.

This award seeks to recognise the intermediary that goes the extra mile to engage with their clients, with effective and informative communication and advice that ensures customers are kept up to date and informed of changes within the industry or beyond.
Judges will look for examples of exemplary engagement with clients that go above and beyond the minimum standard required, particularly in the context of the cost-of-living crisis.

Open to providers of insurance policies or integrated services that have released a new product within the past 12 months (from June 2023 - June 2024).
Innovation is the lifeblood of any industry, the protection and health space is no different. New products and services help drive the industry forward, as well as address emerging issues at consumer level and help ease access to cover or support for more people. With the tail of Covid-19 and the ongoing cost of living crisis, new opportunities for consumers to engage with the industry are vital.
This award seeks to recognise the provider of the most innovative and impacted new product or service in the market over the past 12 months.

Outstanding New Technology Offering
Open to all technology and/or software providers, including quotation portal providers, offering solutions, platforms or portals for the health and protection and insurance markets.
Technology has become an integral part of the protection and health insurance end-to-end chain, impacting every part of the consumer journey. New innovations are helping drive the industry forwards to ensure greater efficiencies for intermediary and better outcomes for clients.
This award seeks to recognise the most innovative and impactful new offering over the past 12 months (June 2023 – June 2024) that has helped insurance providers broaden their market coverage, improve efficiencies and harness the latest in technological advances to further the cause of the health and protection markets.

Outstanding Added Value (Provider)
Open to all protection and/or health insurance providers that offer added value services/products to policyholders.
Added value services have become an integral part of protection and health insurance propositions, offering policyholders access to a range of services before, during or after a claim, which may not be accessible otherwise, such as bereavement counselling for family members around a life insurance pay-out, care support around a cancer diagnosis or return-to-work rehabilitation for income protection.
This award recognises the provider of insurance policies which offers the most innovative, diverse and well-rounded range of value-added services to policyholders.

Open to providers of business protection products, such as key person cover and shareholder protection.

Outstanding Mental Health & Wellbeing Support
Open to providers of mental health and wellbeing support services as part of an insurance proposition or standalone service.
Mental health and wellbeing have rapidly become one of the key elements of health and protection propositions since the onset of the Covid pandemic and have evolved further during the cost of living crisis, to include greater levels of financial wellbeing support and education. Through partnerships and expanding ecosystems, providers should now be focused on ensuring services are meeting the new and emerging needs of policyholders and their families.
This award seeks to recognise the insurance or service provider that has gone above and beyond in its support of mental health and wellbeing for either individual or group cover.

Outstanding Added Value Service (Third Party)
An added value service is a service that provides support to policyholders at no extra cost via their insurance policy. Typical examples of added value services might include a virtual GP, professional nurse services or health practitioners offering second medical opinions. Firms offering an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) as part of an employee benefits scheme could also qualify.

Open to technology-based firms or providers operating for the health and protection insurance sectors.
Insurance technology may not be a new idea but there are always firms that are aiming to launch innovative and disruptive new technologies that have the potential to shake the foundations upon which the industry is built. Simultaneously, new insurers are coming to market with a data-driven approach to cover.
This award seeks to recognise the insurtech that is bringing the most innovative and impactful new offering or service to the market.

Insurance Leader of the Year
Open to the most influential industry members of the life, protection and health insurance space on an individual basis.
This award seeks to recognise the individual within the life, protection and health insurance industry that has worked to improve industry standards, drive change from the top down to get better outcomes for clients, raise awareness of emerging threats, bring new ideas to the table and help drive action within the market at individual and organisational level.

Open to all insurance providers offering aid to accessing third-party health services on a corporate and/or individual customer bases.
In the midst of the cost-of-living crisis, more employees are looking for healthcare alternatives as waiting lists for the NHS have reached record lengths and demand for access to private healthcare options grows alongside. As such, the role of health plans via employers has become ever more important and providers need to responsive to this evolving landscape.
Entries into this award could include anything from cash plans to assisting those covered in accessing dental treatment. It seeks to recognise an exceptional level of coverage and service to customers and users alike.

Outstanding Promotion of Protection
Open to all protection and/or health insurance providers.
Growing awareness of the value of health and protection is a crucial step in wider education of consumer groups, ranging from effective industry campaigns, widespread adviser training, social media buzz or anything that has increased positive interest in our industry and the products within it.
This award seeks to recognise the company that is doing its upmost to promote protection both within the industry and beyond the insurance bubble to the public within the past 12 months (from June 2023 - June 2024).
