Andrew Whyte is Chief Executive of the Association of Financial Mutuals, the trade body that represents mutual and not-for-profit insurers, friendly societies and other financial mutuals across the UK.

Appointed in January 2023, Andrew works with the AFM Board to determine the strategic direction and priorities of AFM and leads the Association’s small staff team. He brings extensive knowledge of the financial services industry and regulation, having served for seven years as the Director of Communications at the Financial Conduct Authority.

Earlier in his career he had been Director of Communications at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Defra and Arts Council England, and Head of Corporate & Public Relations at the BBC.

Andrew is also a member of the Advisory Board of specialist agency Echo Research and a Trustee and Non-Executive Director of the national Neighbourhood Watch Network.
